GIS Shared Environment Project Description
Minimize

The purpose of the GIS Shared Environment project is to provide an environment for running server based GIS applications and services that is available to all agencies.   We expect the primary use of this environment will be for DOA and the state agencies that cannot justify the expense of a dedicated GIS environment. The GIS Shared Environment will provide immediate benefits by lessening the need to purchase hardware and manage configurations. It will also provide a significant return on investment if agencies will come together to share standards-based configurations

This environment will be built using virtual solutions as the preferred technical solutions.  As part of this project we will develop guidelines and recommendations for implementing GIS server software on virtual servers.
