The GIO (Geographic Information Office) will coordinate Wisconsin’s geographic information systems projects and ensure that GIS policies support the mission of the State’s GIS activities and continuing development of a sustainable GIS infrastructure. The position will provide for the efficient use of geographic information, which shall include:

providing such geographic information as may be necessary to implement the critical infrastructure protection programs;

providing leadership and coordination in meeting the requirements of those responsible for planning, prevention, mitigation, assessment and response to emergencies, critical infrastructure protection, and other related functions; and

coordinating with users of geographic information within Wisconsin to assure interoperability and prevent unnecessary duplication.
